The Dallas and Fort Worth Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association is pleased to announce two 2017 scholarship award recipients.

Emily Haskins is a 2017 Timber Creek High School graduate from Ft. Worth, TX.  In addition to her outstanding academic achievements, Emily is an active leader in the community. She is active in Civil Air Patrol, in her high school community and enjoys volunteering with her local church. While at Virginia Tech Emily will pursue degrees in Aerospace Engineering and Chinese.

Michael R. White is a 2017 Edward S. Marcus High School graduate from Highland Village, TX.  In addition to his stellar academic achievements, during his high school years Michael has been active in BSA, including achieving Eagle Scout, a member of his High School Computer Science Competition Team, Software Development Club, marching band and has been an active community volunteer.  At Virginia Tech, Michael will study Mechanical Engineering.

Emily and Michael clearly exemplify the Virginia Tech motto - Ut Prosim, embrace the Hokie spirit and already have a zeal and enthusiasm for the University. Congratulations to Michael, Emily and all of the rising freshmen Hokies from the DFW area.  We wish you all the best as you begin your adventure at Virginia Tech!

Hokie Club
